How many in-store retail clinics are there? 1,805 in the U.S.

The buzz continues about retail clinics.  In one recent development, Kaiser Permanente has partnered for the first time with a retailer by agreeing to operate four clinics in Target stores in southern California.  This brings Target’s total to 84 in-store clinics in 8 states.  The Kaiser clinics at Target will see patients covered by non-Kaiser health plans, also a first for Kaiser.

Here are interesting statistics from the research firm Merchant Medicine:

  • There were 1,805 in-store clinics in the US as of November 2014
  • This is an increase of 200 since the beginning of 2014
