Largest U.S. Pharmaceutical Companies by 2012 Revenue

The latest Fortune 500 list of the largest U.S. corporations, based on 2012 total revenue, includes 13 pharmaceutical firms. The largest pharma companies with their overall rank [within brackets] on this year’s Fortune 500 list were:

  1. Johnson & Johnson [41]
  2. Pfizer [48]
  3. Merck [58]
  4. Abbott Laboratories [70]
  5. Eli Lilly [130]
  6. Bristol-Myers Squibb [158]
  7. Amgen [162]
  8. Gilead Sciences [280]
  9. Mylan [374]
  10. Actavis [432]
  11. Allergan [440]
  12. Biogen Idec [454]
  13. Celgene [456]

The following financial data is available for each listed corporation: total revenue, total profit, assets, number of employees, total stockholder’s equity, total return to investors, earnings per share, profit as a percent of revenue, profit as a percent of assets, and profit as a percent of stockholder’s equity.
