Below are the top ten states with the highest average home health visits per episode (I’ve rounded the following numbers — they are given at two decimal places in the original source). These data come from SafeGuard Services, LLC, a contactor to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
Home Health Utilization: 2011 average visits per episode
- Utah 28
- New York 22
- Ohio 22
- Wisconsin 20
- Wyoming 19
In comparison, the US national average was about 18 visits per episode. The state with the lowest utilization was Oregon with 13.
