Salary survey: 2012 central service 3.2% average increase

This is a salary survey conducted by Healthcare Purchasing News, with responses from 229 readers.  Some positive trends were noted, such as an overall increase in the average salary compared to last year and a boost in reported career confidence.  Three-quarters of the respondents reported that they are certified, although only about a third of respondents reported that they receive compensation related to being certified.  Other trends noted include more nurses working in central service and responsibility for other hospital functions, such as purchasing, storeroom, and central transport, being added to the CS director’s responsibilities.
