Reasons why US hospitals are likely to face another round of nursing shortages are explored in this literature review. Strategies that hospitals can employ to confront the nursing shortage include: 1.) Improve the work environment (such as by pursuing Magnet status), 2.) Develop leadership qualities, 3.) Improve culture and communication, 4.) Standardize information technology, 5.) Deploy ergonomic devices, and 6.) Organize the work environment efficiently.
