Employed physicians: 50% base pay 50% wRVUs

Although cost cutting is important, the key to success in hospital-owned physician practices is revenue.  At the heart of this is the physician compensation model.  The authors, senior execs with The Halley Consulting Group, talk about a number of approaches that they term mistakes, such as putting too much stock in published compensation surveys, and then move on to recommending approaches based on work relative value units (wRVUs).  They mention the recommended approach of half base pay and half based on wRVU productivity.
