I recently received a question about where to find information about hospital participation in the federal 340B drug discount program that was expanded last year. These are the places I’d start with:
- US Health Resources and Services Administration, the federal agency that administers the program. Not only does it provide details about the program, visitors to the HRSA web site can search or download a file of “covered entities“, including hospitals, that participate in the program.
- Pharmacy Services Support Center, based at the American Pharmacists Association, provides program support under a contract with HRSA.
- Safety Net Hospitals for Pharmaceutical Access, a membership organization representing about 800 hospitals and health systems that participate in the 340B program.
- AHA Advocacy Alliance for the 340B Discount Drug Program, an American Hospital Association alliance to promote the value of this program
